The Quinta Real’s 74 rooms are located in a single five-story building perched on the edge of a cliff above the hotel pool and the beach. Governor’s suites flank both sides of the property, with large terraces and commanding corner views. Master suites and grand class suites occupy the center units and have step-out balconies and clear ocean views. Simple and elegant room decor includes marble-tiled floors, white-leather wingback chairs, ceiling fans, high ceilings, and sculpted white headboards above the beds. Draperies and bedspreads are rich, neutral-tone fabrics.

Quinta Real Restaurant - Open for breakfast and lunch, the hotel’s gourmet restaurant offers international cuisine plus special dishes representing each of the seven localities where Quinta Real operates hotels. Indoor dining room offers white linen tablecloths, tropical decor, and air conditioning. Located on the hotel’s highest level, the outdoor terrace affords clear views of Punta Diamante and Revolcadero Beach and is shaded by an imitation slatted-wood roof. Shirt and shoes are required. Beach Club Restaurant - Between the pool and the beach under a high palapa, the Beach Club specializes in regional seafood dishes, including shrimp and sea bass, plus a rotating menu of chef’s specialties. Sandals and T-shirts are acceptable here, as the restaurant also provides drink service to guests lounging at the pool. Open for lunch and dinner. Lobby Bar - A more refined setting for evening cocktails, the Lobby Bar is open only on busy nights and weekends. With leather chairs, flickering candles and live music, the atmosphere is reminiscent of the early years of Acapulco’s storied history. Service is offered in the climate-controlled indoor section or outside on the veranda, overlooking the small cliff and beach.

What to expect: Guests enter through two guarded gates, then arrive at the open-air lobby, with its 60-foot-tall thatched roof. Check-in is carried out at hand-carved and hand-painted desks and chairs, rather than at a reception counter. Popular with the Mexico City upper class, who often arrive in rented Porsches and BMWs, the Quinta Real is the place to see and be seen on the weekends. Vacationing families rub elbows with aristocrats and businesspeople. Amenity highlights: Located at the northern end of Revolcadero Beach, the hotel shares its cliffside perch with a few multi-million-dollar houses and condos. Stairwells meander down the cliff from the street level, past the lobby bar and gourmet restaurant, alongside the spa and fitness room, then snake down to the three pools and finally onto the soft sand beach. In the evenings, guests enjoy glowing sunsets from the privacy of their rooms or from the palapa-covered poolside cabanas. Insider tip: Adjacent to the hotel, Shotover Jet offers fast, thrilling jet boat rides. These combination nature and adventure tours take place on the estuary that leads from the hotel beach into the mangrove lagoons of Acapulco, where the first Tarzan movies were filmed.

Revolcadero Beach is renowned among surfers who appreciate the right- and left-hand breaks along the shore from Punta Diamante south. The hotel has two swimming pools and a children's pool.
